Pantheon

4/5/12 ~ So sad our last day in Rome. We woke up and packed our bags, well I should say Juliann packed my bag because I am horrible at it. We went out for cappuccino and Italian pastries for breakfast and then went to see the final sights of Rome. We went to visit the sights  that we saw at night during the day. Starting off with the Spanish Steps then the Trevi Fountain. Both of which I think are so much cooler at night. There are less people and they are lit up really cool. Next we went over to the Pantheon. The columns outside all came from Egypt and they are all one solid piece. Awesome! We got to go inside and the dome on the inside is open to the outside, it would be cool to see it when it is raining. After our quick stop there we headed over to Piazza Novena and then a quick stop at Old Bridge for our last gelato in Rome before heading back to the flat to get out suitcases.

On our way to the Termini train station we stopped off at a supermarket to grab snacks and food to make sandwiches. We made it to the train station with the perfect amount of time to stamp our tickets and hop onboard... or so we thought. Apparently our train was on a different platform that we didn't know existed and was on the other side of the station. We started out with a brisk walk which turned into a full out run and we got on the train with one minute to spare before it left the station.

We made ourselves sandwiches and then rested for the few hours on the train until we reached Florence! Juliann's friend from Grove City, Ben, met us at the train station and took us to his flat. It is on the top floor of the building and the stairs make us appreciate the three flights to get to my room because theirs was like triple that. The great thing about their flat is that they have access to the roof from their balcony. We enjoyed the sunset and a bit if wine before heading out to dinner with Ben and Josh. We went to Osteria del Gatto e La Volpe for a family style dinner with tons of food and yummy house wine. It was 15 euros and totally delicious. After being well fed we went back and passed out.
